Many languages are used as lingua francas. Some of these are "smaller", such as Lingala, whereas other, for example English, are used throughout the world. Over the last decade, there has been growing interest in this field of research, both from descriptive as well as applied perspectives. The "People" link takes you to a list of scholars who persue research in the field of lingua franca communication. Many of their current research projects are summarised at the "Projects" link, which presents brief summaries of current research being undertaken on lingua franca communication. The section on "Publications and reviews" informs readers about recent work published on this topic. And "Events" links you to conferences, panels and seminars dealing with aspects of lingua franca communication. This site is currently under re-development. Please come back soon to visit those links which are not yet active. |
